I think this fella on youtube is using a Mimo touchcreen rotated 90 degrees, it looks pretty cool.

Re: Anyone else using Mimo / DisplayLink USB mini-monitors?

Hmmmm.... I am sensing it might have to do with my Win7 Ultimate 64.... I found a forum with some very unhappy campers regarding Win7 "DirectLink" driver software... In fairness to them I don't know if that is the issue... Now I am hunting for a different set of their drivers to try...

    Thanks for the replies guys!

Re: Anyone else using Mimo / DisplayLink USB mini-monitors?

Jeff - my testing at work was on a Win7 Ultimate x64 box and I didn't notice any particular CPU problems. But then I didn't try running FSX so it could well be a 64bit - 32bit thunking issue in the drivers (given that FSX is 32-bit code).

I guess that your mileage may vary depending on exactly what you do with it. Certainly there are examples out there of people using the Mimo for FS-related stuff (per Steve A's post above). That at least makes me confident that it'll do nicely for my purposes.

BTW - while you can get the latest drivers from the manufacturer Nanovision (it's not easy, you have to click on a link in their news ticker on the home page), I found that installing these broke the touchscreen functionality (assuming yours has it) because there seems to be an error in their install INF file which buggers up the driver install so it can't be used. Generic DisplayLink drivers can be had from the DisplayLink site, and those seem to work; but even Windows Update has recent drivers for the Mimo / DisplayLink for Win7.

Let us know how it goes. I'll do likewise!

Re: Anyone else using Mimo / DisplayLink USB mini-monitors?

    Thanks Neil!

I am still whacking at it.... I found an obscure set of beta drivers that I am going to try tonight... The thing that bugs me is that it may be the way my video card is interacting with the software... There is a legacy video setting in BIOS I am going to try tonight...

    Crossing fingers...

Re: Anyone else using Mimo / DisplayLink USB mini-monitors?

    Hi,

    Some clarifications:
    - DisplayLink drivers support DirectX in Vista and Windows 7 only (no XP)
    - Please download our latest drivers on the web-site: www.displaylink.com/software, in order to have a higher frame rates than the ones you measured.
    - IMPORTANT: the Samsung picture frames are not DisplayLink. Please check if the product is from DisplayLink at the online shop: http://www.displaylink.com/shop/minimons.

Happy to help with further clarifications,

    DisplayLink Support Team

Re: Anyone else using Mimo / DisplayLink USB mini-monitors?

    Hi Display Link Support Team,

In case you are watching this forum (and I hope you are) there was a slight improvement with the new drivers... Unfortunately FSX is still unflyable with the mini display running... Any ideas? It is a Lilliput 7" monitor USB...

I hope you can help as I love having the undocked GPS view but can't live with the performance hit.
