It is a Win 2000 issue. I've dealt with this one before. Win 2K has a problem with USB getting mixed up with Gameport settings. It is not you. As far as I know, there is no fix for it. You just have to find a different way to use hardware in 2K.
EDIT:
You might try changing the port settings in 2K on for the Gameport and USB and see if that does any good for you. Its been quite sometime since I dealt with this one. I think I just went to XP to solve it.God's in command, I'm just the Pilot.

Go into System Properties and disable the gameport.
Then try and see if that fixed it.
If not, then go into system properties, device manager and open the Gameport device. Change the resource address to all zeros.
Also, check in the BIOS to see if you can disable it there. That way Windows simply will ignore it. (hopefully)God's in command, I'm just the Pilot.
