Connection to the FMGS Server should work, you just need to activate/install the hardwareconnect and the joystick modules of FMGS on the PC to which your joysticks are connected. But i didn't try that.
The upper mentioned restriction is just valid for a connection via WideFS, for example to FSUIPC.
