    Cool Sidestick alternative

    Hi dodiano!

First of all, though its the first time im posting in your forum, i want to thank you for all the contribution you gave to all of us busbuilders!..thanks in advance

My question might have been already answered, but i did try to found an answer at the forum with not much of a success, so, if im repeating something, i appologise in advanced.

Im trying to found the most realistic replacement for a real bus sidestick... The proper tension in the spring, the touch and feel of the inside mechanism..any ideas where i should start?

    thanks!

    alex

Flightdeck Solutions (www.flightdecksolutions.com) makes an Airbus SSC it says will replicate actual stick forces.

Itra GmbH (sim.itra.de) sold stick grips based on the Airbus design. They appear to be out of stock currently.

FAST magazine (http://www.airbus.com/en/services/Publications/) had basic information about the SCC which might help if you choose to build your own. Check issues 3, 5, 14, & 20.

Peter: did you have contact with them recently?
I sent mail to them but never got any answer. Looks like ITRA gave up Sitestick production. Sent email to them, No answer here as well...

Are there any other alternatives? (Forget FDS, their prices are form Mars.
There are only two types of airplanes that matters. Old and new Airbus...

If you're looking for force controlled joysticks, here are a few options:

One of the force-measuring conversions for the Thrustmaster Cougar.

    A "Ribbstick" http://aviationsimulationgroup.com/RibbStick.aspx

Interface a real F-16 SSC. (It's been done. The most difficult part is finding a real SSC.)

Build your own. You might base it on load cells from Elane http://www.elane.net/index.php?go=load_cell rather than the LVDTs used in the real SSC. The race car sim crowd has used the Elane products for pedal force sensing.

You best source of information for force activated versus motion activated flight controls will likely be one the people over at the ViperPits site.

Old topic, but I thought I might contribute to it.

The Airsimmer community (many of them real world Airbus pilots) voted the Attack 3 by Logitech to be the best Airbus joystick for FS on a budget.
