    B737 Gear lever

    Hi all,
I've just built this B737 gear lever for Bob Reed and thought I would share the design for anyone who wants to copy it!

    Wow,

Your'e a master! That is beautiful. Did you turn that handle yourself or did you use something that was available?

If the former, I keep thinking I need to add a couple metal working pieces of equipement to my shop. I have a pretty extensive woodworking shop but nothing for metal working (hobbiest only). I am wondering what some essentials might be. I keep thinking a small mill, lathe, and bandsaw for cutting metal but not sure.

    Hi Scott,
I have a small chinese metal lathe and I am a machinist by trade. The handle is some 10mm & 6mm clear perspex superglued together then turned. The wheel holder is machined from solid 30mm pvc and painted. It screws on to the 14mm shaft so it can be fitted after the bracket is installed to the MIP. The clear perspex wheels are pretty quick and easy to make, I might add them to the product range!

    Cheers, Gwyn

Well, I am sure it would be much less expensive for you to make and us to buy then it would be for someone like me to acquire equipment, learn how to use, make tons of mistakes, waste lots of time and material, etc......

    Maybe thats the best route!

My gear handle, which used an 1/2 aluminum U channel for the handle broke where I drilled the handle to run the 1/4 pivot bolt through. So I have to rebuild it.

I like the internal design of yours Gwyn more than mine. With your permission I will borrow it.
