Re: Curved screen
I responded when the link was valid. I had to subscribe to some business thing to request a quote. Reluctantly I did, but got no response. Thankfully I haven't been bombarded with spam from them either. If I remember rightly, it was a chinese firm.

Re: Curved screen
Hi Nick,
I have purchased a 180° screen from them, taylor made:

Here are pictures of the setup:
It took me about 10 weeks to get the thing from China to Vienna.
Quality is perfect and massive, I can really recommend them!

Re: Curved screen
How much did it cost for the screen, and then what was the cost for shipping?
Thank you.

Re: Curved screen
The screen itself was US$ 1.900, shipping, forwarding, fees and taxes another US$ 900

Re: Curved screen
I agree with AMunk, it isn't expensive or difficult to make a decent screen yourself - couple of hundred Euro for materials and paint from the local hardware store and a couple of days work with some help from a mate, as I'm not that handy with powertools. I'll invest a little more money on special projector paint which we're using in the office to project straight onto walls; the image brightness and quality with the paint are excellent.

and in use, the projectors haven't yet been fully adjusted positionwise, so the visible joins are down to me, not the screen!

Re: Curved screen
That looks cool if the size of the room admits it..
For my screen (still in test progress) the materials i used was:
- Electrical piping 2 x 3 meters and four 90 deg angles. 16 EUR
- Two cheap bathroom vinyl lining 2 x 1,8 meters 27 EUR
- One roll of white duct tape 10 EUR
- A lot of patience....
Total 53 EUR.
I started bending the pipes in the desired curve around the sim with a heating gun.
glued all the angles on the pipes to get the frame together.
Taped the vinyl lining around the frame, stretching until the desired bend, at this moment i looked like crap because the lining was all wrinkled...
Then i used the heat gun on the vinyl and to my surprise i crimped around the frame and removed all wrinkles....

Re: Curved screen
First, we posted about this here, as well as on Cockpit Builders website. Please do not delete this reply because it redirects you to there; we always send many redirects back to MyCockpit on the other site. Especially, since a similar topic might be going on at the same time, so it saves time and people will not have to read the same post twice, but in two different places.
Therefore, please go to this link to read more about curved screens, and of course read more here on MYC:

Thank you MYC for being a great site that shares over the entire flight sim community...
