Backlighting question
This applies to backlightable panels as opposed to internally backlighted ones.
What do you use to block unwanted light bleeds occuring between some panels, around some pushbuttons, behind the LEDs of the annunciators, etc etc.
Black tape does not hold for long, black caulking is messy and prevents maintenance...
Any "brilliant" idea?

When I was building my own panels, I used Black Hockey Tape. Worked amazingly. Besides, you put it in then place your panels on top and screw them in, and the screws also hold the tape.

I too had this problem with my pedestal panels. I found trying to use black tape was fiddly and did not last. I solved light bleed around 7 seg displays and other minute openings by using black plasticine - it is easily moulded around awkward shapes and can readily be reoved without making a mess.
For the joints between NAV panels etc, I used double sided sticky tape on the 3mm thin edge of the panels (where they abut each other) and stuck some black cloth webbing onto the sticky tape, trimming off excess with a scalpel. This means that you have a flexible caulked buffer between the panels which seals the gaps and stays with the panels.
Hope this helps
