Cockpit Builder In Tucson
Hi Everyone -
I'm Steve from Tucson.
I've been a cockpit builder ever since the mid-90's and have had several projects. My first was the Multi-Aircraft-SImulator eXperiment, MAFSIX....and there were a few progressive versions of the project, none of which ever got finished. I also toyed twice with F-16 cockpit building, but the daunting size of those projects also resulted in DNF's. However, once I made the transition from Falcon 4.0 to X-Plane two years ago, the fire finally got lit that would not go out. And I'm just about done! I've participated in a number of flight simulation fora over the years, and just found this place today in a search for Hall sensors.
The quick and dirty 'pit description: Fighter style cockpit for a limited production, fictitious two-seat bush jet based on Cessna Citation CJ1+ engines and systems. The aircraft has been fully realized in X-Plane - I call it the GrizzlyJet. Custom glass cockpit instrumentation is being developed using Quantum3D's IData software - the real world avionics development stuff - driving two monitors. The main cockpit monitor also displays XHSI. External views are via a 42" LCD television and TrackIR 4. Controls courtesy of Thrustmaster Cougar and Simped, Hagstrom KE72 and KEAD6, LED's driven by Ultimarc Pacdrive.
The shell is done with most of the major toys in place, and today I'm putting the finishing touches on my switch panels. I've already been able to fly the 'pit, but only with keyboard switchology. This is due to change soon....
Nice place you have here. Perhaps I'll be able to contribute...and get inspired for future projects and upgrades!Last edited by WarpeD; 07-13-2010 at 01:42 PM. Reason: Clarity of title
