WorldFlight
Hello guys. Recently I've been hearing a lot about WorldFlight everywhere.
Could somebody tell me exactly what it is, or point me out to a website?
All I know about it is that a bunch of people with simpits get together and fly, and that a lot of people choose to wear pilot costumes while doing it :P
However I'd like to be able to see the minimum requirments for what they see as a 'simpit' and so fourth.
Thanks!

World flight
WORLD FLIGHT is a “Virtual” Round the World Flight to raise money for Charities around the globe. Teams use their own Home-
built Airliner Simulators, flying with real Airline procedures, Charts and Virtual Air Traffic Control supplied by the VATSIM Network. We also use weather programs which simulate the “real world” weather conditions for added reality.
The concept of a virtual round the world flight for charity was started 9 years ago by a team in the United Kingdom, and has spawned an annual event with participants all over the globe. 'World Flight Australia' was started in 2001 and has become the leading group with others in the UK, USA, Canada Austria and Scotland joining the flight over the past 9 years, We all fly the same route as one large group. Each team select their own worth charity and raise funds through donations and corporate sponsorship.

Theres 2 types of WorldFlight people.... those who wear pilots uniforms and those who drink copious amounts of beer....
Having said that B744 John Davis seems to have a good balance of both!

Others might say: If you wear a uniform you are not allowed to drink beer - so we always fly without

Hi Coolmanak,
Lots of people talk about the beer drinking at worldflight, sure we have a beer or 3, but most guys who are flying or doing ATC are sober during Worldflight. The week is way too long (7 days and Nights) to go too hard.
We are always looking for new Teams to Join Worldflight, but it is not as easy as it sounds...
You need to assemble a team that can fly your sim for 7 days and nights to 45 airports 24 hours a day.
Your sim needs to be robust enough to withstand this abuse.
You need to have a way to feed all the crew and support staff.
You need to have somewhere for them to sleep and rest and party.
You have to find crew that are willing to contribute financialy to your chosen charity.
We have some very strict rules on money collected for Worldflight, 100% must go to your charity.
You must have approval from that charity to collect on their behalf.
If you are really interested in getting a team together or anyone else is interested in submitting a team, send me an email
But please make sure you are commited to this first, it is alot of hard work, but very rewarding.
Cheers,
Matthew Sheil

I completely agree with Matt about it being hard work....
After the months of preperation before the event, the 7 days of very little sleep during the event we dont normally touch our sim for a few months whilst we recover.
Having said that what better way than spend a week with friends, doing something you really enjoy as realistically as possible as well as raising money for very worthy causes.
Cheers
Gary
