Projector Advice
Hi ,
New here so thought i'd say hello,
Trying ! to build a 737NG , early stages so far,
I need advice on a projector please, this will be for main front view,
I'm tempted by the BEN Q MP771 short throw, from projectorpoint uk
DLP
Resolution XGA
Brightness 3000 lumens
Contrast Ratio 2000:1
it is expensive, but i realy dont want to mess with mirrors at this time.
Any advice will be Gratefully received
Thanks Guys

All mirrors are used for is to shorten the distance needed to throw the picture. Alternately they can also be used to change FOV width and height, but I wouldn't use it for that personally. Any reason why you mention this projector and not using mirrors? I've not looked at the specs, but most projection setups benefit from first surface mirrors because you don't need a huge room to use it in.

Projectors
Hi there, I purchased the ViewSonic PJ358 from Projector Point, excellent service, almost immediate delivery.
Try to keep away from DLP projectors, they have a habit of giving a rainbow effect on the image, the above projector is also XGA (1074x768 native) and has a fantasic throw, mine is just over 2 metres away from the screen and is over 2.1 meters wide.
On their web site there is a small programe which physically shows you how big the picture will be at what distance with each projector, try it out?
I would recomend the PJ358, at just about £500.00 its very good.

Thanks Guys,
Daveanne, i will take a look at the projector you reccomend, but are you sure about LCD being better than DLP ?
can the rainbow effect be seen by everyone ? or only the unlucky few ?
from what i've read there seems to be pro's and con's for both,
anyway thanks again , off to take another look on PP UK,
Steve

Daveanne,, I just have a quick question.
Does the Pj 358 have the feature that allows for rear projection?
I read a little of the users guide online and it mentions a "mirror" setting. Would that be it ?
Thanks

Pj358
Yes you are right, the "mirror" setting is for reversing the image, i.e. for use with back projection onto a screen or the like.
It will change the picture in Horizontal and Vertical plane, also a combination of both together (when you are bouncing it of a series of mirrors).
Hope this helps you, If I remember correctly you can download the instruction book form the makers website?

Another handy feature is lens shift. This gives you the ability to mount the projector and still have movement of the end image, without needing to move the projector - or use lots of digital keystone.
It's not a must have, but certainly handy, especially for multi-projector set-ups.
