Help find a post
The other day I noticed a post that mentioned a "Airplane Junk Yard" 30 north of Saint Louis. By the life of me, I can't find it.
Anyway, if the poster sees this.
Where is is this junk yard. IL or MO. I hang out in the area during the week, might be fun nosing around there

Fuselage Salvage?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone have any experience with Dodson International (Rantoul, KS) or White Industries (Bates City, MO)? They are within short driving distance of Wichita (where I live). My ideal would be simply hitching up the family car trailer and going to get a salvage cockpit from one of those places for a project. Just looking at the Google Maps, both look like they have a ton of stuff that would make for cool simpits.
Website links:

It sorta baffles me that I can find no "boneyards" in the Wichita area. I guess Wichita produces aircraft, not retires them though. Does anyone know of any other "boneyards" in the mid-west area? Website links + Google Map links appreciated.
Edit: A few "boneyard" links that are in Wichita. Most not places you can buy stuff from though.

Thanks, but that wasn't the one. It specifically mentioned 30 miles north of Saint Louis. Interesting that I can't find that in a search

I think you mean the yard at Staunton, Illinois.
My instructor and I flew up there from Parks in a Seneca one day to pick up a manifold pressure guage on our way to Midway.
Talk about unimproved runways. It turned to broken asphalt and gravel on the roll-out. The runway isn't even marked.
I'm not sure if it's still open or not but no reason why it wouldn't be, but it's all GA stuff, no airliner parts that I know of.Boeing Skunk Works

I can make a comment on White Industries. I have been there a few times with Central Missouri University's Accident Investigation Class. They have ton's of GA aircraft and small jets. However they are not very receptive selling parts to simmers. They use a price formula based on percentage of new price minus depreciation cost. They consider all there parts reusable for flying and not scrapped. It's been some time since I contacted them about purchasing a Bell 206 shell which they would not sell me. http://www.whiteindustries.com/
Finding this place is very interesting. Bates City is about 30 miles east of Kansas City on Interstate 70. You can drive past it and never know its there. There is a LearJet setting along side I-70 to let you know something is there. It's behind a big hill.
There is contact information on there site if you want to inquire
