Navigraph Data
Hi Folks,
It's been a while since I last updated my AIRAC information (actually last time I did, it was free of charge!). I'd like to update it now, but I'm not really sure what file I should download for PM. When I go to the corresponding Navigraph page I see:

And I don't really see any direct reference to Project Magenta here...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!Luis Gordo

Hello Luis,
Since this last cycle AIRAC 0709, there is no AIRAC available for the Project Magenta. But it's temporarely and I suggest to you to visit the Navigraph forum (into the General Questions) about the problem (see my question and answer coming from Richard Stefan).

Hi Marco,
Thanks for your reply. I assume the forum and thread you are referring to is this one: http://forum.navdata.at/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=692
That's more or less a month ago... Anyway, what's the converter he is talking about? And also, is there any way to access old AIRAC cycles?
Thanks once more!Luis Gordo

Hello Luis,
Your last message refers correctly what I saw then wait and see but I'm sure we'll receive major updates coming from Enrico and his team.

Re Navdata
Hi
For the time being we are using navdata from the Updates/Intermediate section of the PM website for trouble shooting and testing. We would advise this cycle unless you really have an absolute need to use another cycle (which we will not be able to support for technical reasons). I have made many tests so far with the test cycle and it seems to be very good. When we are sure that the problems have been ironed out we will sort out with Navigraph how to proceed with further updates.
Please also note, that I have had various reports of problems in the past that I have not been able to see, and some errors it has become apparent are due to third party programs being used for route planning / saving and loading like FS itself into the CDU. Once you load an entire route with a third party program and if in this route you make a change using the CDU, it is entirely possible due to miss match data that problems can occur. If you want to limit this "room" for a possible error, I would personally advise creating all your routes with the current navdata and building them in the CDU and then using the CDU to save then (if required). I know some people have very long routes and this can be a tedious job, but it is the best way to ensure error free ops. The routes I use for demos are much shorter hops so I can understand why third party programs are used sometimes. So, to be clear, I'm just putting this forward as a suggestion, simply from what I have managed to glean from what some of the problems appear to be coming from when sent into us on the support mail and it could be that *some* but not all issues with route line generation / problems are not only limited to the navdata convertor problem but miss matches of data. I hope this info helps a little.

Hi Jonathan,
I've had the same suspicion about the cause for recent CDU problems.
On the other hand, some flight planning programs (like FSC) use the same source for nav data as PM, i.e. Navigraph. But even with data coming from the same provider, I encountered the "spagetti salad" routes on the NAV display and in the CDU legs page.
As a temp fix I also started building the routes for my short hops in the CDU and that works fine - it's just that flight planners are more convenient and leave more time for flying.
Looking forward to further news on this subject. And thanks for the info!
All the best,
Hans

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for clarification, but I like to inform you that all mentioned problems about the NAVDATA, came out when I put my routes myself in the CDU.
I'm preparing everything in FOC2003 (http://www.danur.com) , but I always put my route manually in the FMC/CDU via RTE page and DEP/ARR page, using the ATC flightplan info section.
Would of course be great if we could simulate fltpln input via ACARS as we have with PS1 but I don't even dare to ask
