More measurement frustration
Hello,
I'm having trouble mating the front windshield to the glareshield. There are so many measurements to respect and when I get one right, it means other measurements are off.
From what I understand the height of the center pillar is 96cm from the floor. The bottom frames of the front windshield are 84 cm long each and about 95 cm from the floor at the end opposite the central pillar.
I can easily respect these measurements, but I'm not sure where the winshield should be positioned in relation to the glareshield. I am thinking that in my simulator it is too far foward.
Anybody have a some reference points that would help me properly position the windshield in relation to theglareshield?
Many thanks for the help.

Hi Guys
carlos this is exactly how i built my windshield/glareshield top. it's a great idea. thanks for the dimensions, i'm sure they are going to be useful to a lot of people, i had to be 'artistic' with the angles/dimensions, but i got there in the end. upload the dimension image so it's available to everybody. well done - looking GOOD!

Many thanks,
I think I can make this to work. My glareshield is not triangular in the middle but the width of the MCP from end to end. I followed a different set of plans for the glare. I have seen a number of them built like this . But I think I can make it work.
Thanks again.

Just another quick question.
Could the front edge of the glareshield actually be above the bottom of the front window glass? (ie glare shield edge above window frame).
This screenshot got me thinking.
Thanks.

It is on the 727. I'd imagine it's the same on most Boeings.

Dont know about the 737 but the 767 MCP is higher than the bottom of the glass. Which by extension means that the 757 and 777 are too because they have the same nose section.

Actually better clarify what is "front".
If you mean the bit of the glare where it meets the glass then I am not too sure, but the MCP side of the glare is certainly above the level of the bottom of the glass.
