6DOF home motion platform
Hi,
Just want to drop in and present you my 6DOF stewart platform using AC motors and VFD inverters:
Thanos 6DOF Motion Simulator Electronics: 6DOF Platform in Action. AMC1280USB - Ian's BFF 6DOF - X-plane
Thanos 6DOF Motion Simulator Electronics: Some photos of the 6DOF platform
I use Ian's BFF 6DOF software and x-plane, but it works great with FSX too!!
Here is another great example using DC motor actuators:

Thanks!!
Best Regards,
Thanos

Re: 6DOF home motion platform
Hi Thanos,
Nice!! looks really good and moves quite well dynamically. Ian's software with your controllers make a great combination!
Seems 6DoF building is really taking off now, I just had components made in Taiwan for my version of 6DoF.

Re: 6DOF home motion platform
Thanos,
Very nicely done. I running a 3dof , Ians of BFF design and are really happy with it. Im afraid ive
beent bitten by the bug for a 6DOf after having seen your in motion. Are there any plans to
release Construction details for what is in your video?.
Thanks very much for posting.
Kindest Regards
Les

Re: 6DOF home motion platform
Hi Les,
I don't have really any construction details. Look on the rest of my videos the construction stages... You build this from grounds-up easily. Google around for your favorite layout. Then you plug the dimensions of your platform into Ian's BFF software and the software takes care of the rest so you have precise motion cues!
BTW, The cost of materials is six times the following:
AC motor 0.75hp = $112
Gearhead 60:1 = $241
AC VFD drive 1HP = $224
Magnetic sensorless position encoder= $15
Supports, rod, arm = $55-$70
So much inexpensive to built it yourself instead of getting ready built 6DOF platforms
(Ckas for example)
Best Regards,
Thanos

Hi Thanos,
Not sure what went wrong with the attachments, but you can find more info on my new 6DoF design on:

Re: 6DOF home motion platform
Hi Roland,
How close are you in finishing your 6DOF with the new linear actuators?
I may have a spare AMC1280USB + 6DOF ext controller for you, that I can send, as soon as I assemble it in one or two weeks. PM me you address, I can't find it in our correspondence.

Re: 6DOF home motion platform
Hi Thanos,
Now that's a great offer!
My 6DoF is at the moment still 1DoF, the other 5 actuators still need to be built. As always, too busy at work.
In December I should be able to pick it up again: First need to check the dimensions of the whole structure, make sure everything fits in my attic, then start cutting wood and metal again. I do have all components and materials, so it is just a matter of mass production.
I saw your controller now also can drive PWM for DC motor? Still need to dig into that, but you've done some great work!
I'll PM you with address information.RR

Re: 6DOF home motion platform
Hey Roland,
Have a look here... http://motionsim.blogspot.com/2014/0...by-markus.html
Markus already finished his platform! Its in testing phase.
As mentioned in the manual, the AMC1280USB outputs PWM (31Khz) and Analog voltages as well (0-5v or 0-10v).
I'll be sending you your AMC1280USB soon, no worries about the cost, I would like to see your 6DOF platform up and running as well!
