PC power Supply
Cant find a exact solution to my problem in the search function I have two 350wat power supplies form old PC. I pluged them both in (they were working when pulled form PCs) but I get nothing from them Is there a trick to getting them to turn on when not plugged into a MB. Thanks

WHOO HOOO got it find it on a car stereo enthusists website. For anyone else who may not know on an ATX power supply simply jumper the green wire with any ground and bingo you have power.

Look on the 20 pin molex connector.... there's a green wire (Pin 14)... signal name is "P/S On". You need to connect that to GND (any of the black wires).... then turn the power supply on. Should fire up.

May be Different
This is very useful, I thought that you had to add a 10 ohm resistor somewhere? OR is this for a different type of PS?

Yes i did read about that but it turns out that some power supply's will not turn on with out a load. That is when you would use the 10ohm resistor to put it under load. At least thats what i gathered from the article i read. I actually was able to power it up and hooked up a 12 volt map light that i had laying around it woked perfect. I plan on using 12 volt bulbs for backlighting and i can use the same power supply for LEDs sweeet and it turns out I have 2 350W and 1 300W power supply's just laying around.

This setup works very well for me. I use it to power the Photon interface boards.

Thanks for the link thats some good info. I think its a great idea to use the power supply's because all of us computer nerds probably have some just laying around dying to be used.
