Airliners builders... regrets and non regrets after finishing your projects ?

Dear simmers,

This thread mostly refers to the experienced airliners sim builders. Those lucky ones that already have built, spent cash, time and effort, and now enjoy the dream of flying.During the last months I am constantly reading threads in this forum, which I must admit is a treasure in the home-cockpit world.

Of course I understand that building never stops, but to my understanding, there is a certain stage, after which one flies and builds rather than builds and flies. Right now I am in the process of researching the market for my own home cockpit. I am one of those who in serious matters never act before deciding first. After deciding I act fast but only after I am sure, or at least positive about the final result.

So I was wondering, are there any regrets or any stages, hardware or software, anything, that after months, years of building you would change or go in a different way. Is there something that in a certain point of the building process acted as a barrier to the final target. On the other hand, are there any stages that you never regreted, any stage, hardware or software, anything that you feel that it was the perfect choise for your simpit.

Hi Nick,
although I`m not an airlinerbuilder but a simple Cessna-pitbuilder,
never regretted the start of this pit,but knew at forehand that it would be a Cessna.
I have planned in such a way I could fly when ever I like.
I`m still building and looking for parts, and along the way I have encountered difficulty`s but with help from the internet and sites like this ,I have found solutions and learned a lot.
The only thing I regret that I don`t know much but still learning about the electronics used in this type of building.

home cockpit building for me is an evolutionary process, because there will always be something which you´re not completely satisfied with and to some degree regret having done or spent money for. But then, I see home cockpit building as a huge recreational effort to widen your horizons and practical skills: There´s so many facets to it which you can learn, if you´re not already a specialist in one of those areas: PC networking; building using all kinds of different materials (wood, aluminium, plastics...) and tools; electronics; avionic systems; theory of flight etc. etc. - There is a wealth of knowledge you can aquire. There are so many ways to build your personal dream and so many different inter-individual opinions, that it´s impossible to give individual advice, what is the best way to build your sim. Money is definitely IMO THE most limiting factor. But that´s something everybody knows here...
If you look on it this way, maybe you will have less time regretting something. This not withstanding your attitude to think first and then act.
