Mycockpit.org Airbus MCP (Autopilot controls) push/pull potentiometer

Hi all, I've searched high and low but cannot seem to locate pots that have a momentary (or spring loaded) push AND pull function. The standard rotary pots readily available from Amazon come with a momentary push action but no pull. There are hundreds of varieties used within the Music industry that are push/pull but these do not have a momentary action. You pull them then do your thing with rotation, when done you push them back in. Background: Airbus autopilot control knobs for SPD, HDG, ALT and VS have dual function. You make your selection, and then PUSH for managed (by the FMGC) control or PULL for Selected/Open control. Any clues? Thanks!

Re: Airbus MCP (Autopilot controls) push/pull potentiometer

    hi,
These controls are hard to get and i have not seen any links but understand they are quite expensive.
Most of us DIY guys make our own. Not quite as elegant as the commercial ones but useable.
here is a link to one made with 3d printable parts.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEhX...ature=youtu.be
I made my own by 3d printing a box, mounting a spring loaded centre off switch to the side. I then mounted an
encoder in the end. Attached a shaft to it that can slide in and out. On the shaft i mounted two collars positioning
these so when pushed and pulled they operated the spring loaded switch. Rotating the shaft adjusted the encoder.
The link i posted added and additional switch for use as the Baro.
    Hope this helps
    Les

I like that but a bit out of my league right now, I might have a crack at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OmkiEdfpPI

Found a pot that does momentary push/pull but they're around 90USD each. Can get expensive! https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDeta...frBpeWJg%3D%3D
