Vidikron VPF 50 HD
Gents, I just received through a donation the above projector, it is one big bad mutha'.
This is a CRT Projector, otherwise known as an Electrohome ECP 4500.
It is rumored to have come from the old F-15 Simulator located at Elemndorf AFB Alaska.
Anyhow, after some trial and error I was able to get it fired up and projecting some light. The picture would not stabilize and I found the burned out component below, located on the Convergence Card, you should see how many cards and PS there is on this frame. (127lbs.)
Support has been very hard to come by, and the only repair outfit I can find is not returning calls or emails.
I need help in identifying the burned out component, it is labeled 476, 16k, 707, and is yellow with a orange stripe. Anyone know of it?

Re: Vidikron VPF 50 HD
Thanks man, I appreciate that!
So is this something that can be simply desoldered and reinstalled, or is there more to it? And what would you think would make this device fail, anything common, over-voltage, age...?
Got any spares? J/K
Now I need to find a source, and hope a simple swap will set it right.

Re: Vidikron VPF 50 HD
Caps failure can be caused by age, over voltage, excessive current etc. It is hard to say why your failed. Many times replacing the cap will fix the problem.
You can get SMD caps from Mouser, DigiKey. SMD caps come in various physical sizes should be fairly cheap. I can not tell by the picture what size it is. As a test you can solder any 47 microfarad cap in its place. Be sure to observe the polarity. Th side with the line is the negative side of the cap.
Sorry, I do not have any.
Good luck
