REAR PROJECTION SCREEN MATERIAL
Hi Folks,
I will start on the projection setup soon.
What material should I use for best possible display.
I am going for rear projection as I will not be able to setup properly by projecting from top of the pit.
Rear projection will allow me a very wide display area (at least 12 feet across) as I have a short throw projector.
My questions are
1. Best material for rear projection (such as shower curtain-I read somewhere)
2. Can I curve the screen since the display width can be big, and it may give me somewhat wrapped view angle (maybe not 130-140 degrees, but could be 100-115)...no?
Thanks guys,
Taufeeq

Re: REAR PROJECTION SCREEN MATERIAL
Hello,
I use a shower curtain for my rear projection. I tried a rear projection screen which gave a hotspot on the screen. The plain white shower curtain works well, no hot spot but you will lose a little brightness but to me it seems very minor. Don't know how you would curve it though.

Re: REAR PROJECTION SCREEN MATERIAL
I use a queen size Egyptian cotton bed sheet with 600 thread count, this gives excellent results for about $60. Stretch it tight on a framework with 4 springs - cheap and very easy!

Re: REAR PROJECTION SCREEN MATERIAL
I tried first close weave cotton which was not bad, then I got a sample of a material sold specifically for back projection but it was not as good as cotton, I was then put on to Lee 402 Soft Frost Roll which is superb.
