Re: Motion Software.....help
I'm not an expert on simconnect since SimCraft writes our own software (CraftCon) that just works, but all of that data goes INTO simconnect. The data comes out of X-Plane or MSFS through a port. The motion software (simconnect or CraftCon) listens on this port to the data and sends output to the motion system.
For simconnect I believe you have to write your own algorithms or use a preset "motion profile" based on how you setup your motion architecture.
If you can post more specifics of your architecture and what you are trying to do it would be more helpful.

Re: Motion Software.....help
Have a look at Jim's page. He's one of the pioneers in DIY motion platforms, and he has developed a motion extractor software that works with FSX and is based on VB. His software is available for download on his page.
http://www.jimspage.co.nz/software.htm ,
Read the other pages carefully as well, there is a lot of good info there.RR

Re: Motion Software.....help
Hi Les,
I use Ian's software, which extracts all required data from FS9 or FSX for driving a 3DoF pitch/roll/heave platform. (or you can use only pitch and roll for a 2DoF). The Pitch, roll and heave data are send out via serial port.
The software has a very nice user interface that lets you tweak the motion filters and sensitivities.

I'm still using V1, (due to my 8 year old PC), but V2 has more functionalities.RR

Hi . You can look on this site
http://www.x-simulator.de/forum/
It is mainly about car racing but if you read between the lines , you can extract a lot of info

Re: Motion Software.....help
Hi Roland,
Thanks for yor reply, how did you find his software worked for his default FSX settings.Im thinking of building ians mini platform 3.Either that or go for the Simcraft 2DOF.i really do like Ians with heave.More work involved and was insure how it would go with his software.Do u find his software is mature or is there quite a bit of tweaking required to get satisfactory results.Simcraft being Pro one would expect a fairly polished performance.Although one reservation i have is that they seem to be more focused on Car Racing.
I enjoy reading your site and the inventiveness u have, really motivates me.Im only into small GA and was hoping to mount my sim on Ians platform.

Re: Motion Software.....help
Hi Les,
I find Ian's software quite mature. Actually there was quite a lot of communication between us during the past 2-3 years development of the software, so it underwent many revisions to make it better.
Getting good results will definitely require some tweaking! A lot depends on the performance of your platform, the type of plane you choose, the way you fly, and what you believe feels right. But this challenge is also part of the fun!
I personally like the heave feeling a lot. Runway bumps, turbulence, airpockets, touchdown, really get another meaning with heave. Flying small GA in the way you'd fly them in the real world gives pretty good results with Ian's software.
Flying the Extra in aerobatics will be less convincing, as the rig easily hits the end stops, since the forces are too dynamic. You can scale them down of course, but then it will not come close to the real thing.
Tuning motion platform software is finding the right compromises. It is not a clear cut solution. I would think that the ready made systems will also need some tuning to get them to suit your needs.
All I can say is that Ians software offers many possibilities to customize it according your needs. You can find the tweaked BFF config files (for version 1 software) for small GA and 737 on my site. Please note that I use FS9. (old PC) http://www.simprojects.nl/motion_tweaking.htmRR
