Fancy a 'Flight' in Concorde?
MyCockpit ® ANNOUNCEMENT: FLY CONCORDE!
BY GEREMY BRITTON
A prospect which nowadays you would think was impossible. A change to 'fly' in concorde.
Many of you may not know, but after concorde retirement aircraft were donated to museums and top airports worldwide. As well as this however, were two Concorde training flight simulators. After their decommission, the neglected dismantled sim was sent to Brooklands Air museum in England UK.
Work, and financial grants from many good people and groups enabled the Concorde aircraft and Simulator to be returned to its former glory. The Flight simulator underwent a huge restoration project. And now is full functional as a flight simulator, although the motion platform couldn't salvaged a great panoramic view and replication of almost all guages and systems in the concorde cockpit allows those who wish to relive the dream take to the skies virtually. It realy is the height of realism, you cannot get better than this and to look around the aircraft, as well as the simulator. What a fantastic day that would be.
The simulator was only finished 2 months ago, and is now accepting visitors, and booking for private functions.
The Concorde Flight Simulator at Brooklands is the only function Concorde Flight Simulator in the World.
Make the most of this, an excellent opportunity. I never managed to get on concorde in her highday so i for one will certainly be paying Brooklands a visit sometime soon.
More information and prices can be found here, you can upgrade to the full Concorde experience, with check in, cockpit and aircraft tour, Flight simulation including time at the controls and a concorde type meal afterwards.
Absolutely fantastic, i urge you to take a look at the site, there is an excellent restoration diary too of how they transformed a donated old, stipped concorde back to the icon she was.
If they won't let her be in the skies this is certainly the next best thing.
Thanks to all at Brooklands.
