Re: External Radio App?
Thanks for the quick replies guys! Sorry for not clarifying...
I'm looking for software that would run on the same PC as the Project Magenta
software. Eddie mentioned that you can change frequencies with the CDU,
but I'm only aware of NAV frequencies being selectable, not COM, ADF, XPDR,
etc...
- Enrico, I guess either typing or mouse scroll wheel, depending on what the
front end looked like. I could see having a page in the CDU/FMC to type in
the frequencies and having the LSK's display what radio would get the typed
in frequency, however I don't know how accurate this would be. I know that
you can select between manual and autotune throuth the B744 FMC, but
again, it's only NAV frequencies. Another option I could see would be with the
RJ software, the radio frequency panel that displays the radio information
might be selectable and tunable. Finally, maybe even a stand alone app that
would replicate the appropriate panel models for the appropriate aircraft,
ie. the Boeing B737NG comm panel would be a small radio stack that would
take on the appearance of the actual panels in the cockpit, like what you've
done with the MCP and CDU. You could offer a Boeing set, and Airbus set and
a Regional Jet set. I know that you have the radio stack represented with
the General Aviation product, so that wouldn't neccessarily need to be
done.
I don't know, maybe I'm crazy and the only one that would use such a
thing...
Thanks for humoring me and if you would like any help in the graphics
department, let me know. I'd be happy to donate my time if you think this would be
worth pursuing.
Cheers,
Jim

There is a setting in the CDU.INI file for that. Let me know whether that
suffices.

Nothing (nearly nothing) is crazy when it comes to these things.

Re: External Radio App?
And... something like this could be even done with pmSystems and then
customized as one needs it.

Re: External Radio App?
Ah yes, I missed the CDU.ini file. That will work perfectly, thanks guys!
Cheers,
Jim
P.S. The only thing for the future would be to add a COM2 LSK option since
Squawkbox 3 will allow users to use both COM frequencies.

Would be great to see thje COM2 option , as the new excellent officially
realised Ivao client IvAp is giving the option too.
Btw and this is for Peter, would it be possible to activate the send button
of the Teamspeeach program on the client pc directly? As with the new IvAp
program no Roger Wilco is involved anymore.
Many thanks

Haven't they yet supported the same mechanism as Roger Wilco and AVC?
I think someone looked at how to do it for TeamSpeak and said it was very
complicated. I'm not really wanting to go that far for a specific program. I
thought someone was going to sort it out, but I've heard no details.
Sorry.
The common method for RW and AVC is by a pair of Registered Messages, one for
PTT on and the other for PTT off. It's about two or three lines of code
for the author of the voice program. That's the way it should be done. That
was done for AVC because at the time, not so long ago, everyone started
changing from RW to AVC.

Pete

Re: External Radio App?
Hi Peter,
Okay will check out.
AVC is exclusive used for Vatsim operations and Teamspeech in used exclusive
for IVAO.

Re: External Radio App?
Hi,
consider it done... but I thought you were a purist and there are no such
entries in the NAV/RAD page?

Hi Enrico
You got me

At this moment I don't have my hardware radiopanels working, so I'm relaying
on PM for this moment to fly already in this stage online. Maybe it better
to put them as an alternate in the ini file, because it can be useful for
persons who, don't have a cockpitproject as me, too.
But you are 100% right, I'm asking this time a figure which isn't there in
real life (my biggest sorry )
Many thanks
Michel

Re: External Radio App?
Hello Michel,
I was just pulling your leg.
But I did remember you once asked me why I put things in the software that
are not there in the real thing, and in other cases people simply want or
need it. That is why I do it.
