So, I have half a meter projection distance, and I would like to have minimum 50 inches screen as a start.

Re: I have half a meter, which short throw projector would fit ?
My choice would be Hitachi CP-A52
But I have two things to take care of:
1. 1024 x 768 resolution isn't too low ? What is your experience from this resolution ?
2. I cannot find this specific model anywhere in Europe, except US of course
Any advise on the above ?

Nick, that projector seems very expensive for an XGA projector. It's listing at around 1000GBP on UK websites. But as you say, I think it is only available from the US as it appears to only come in a 110v version.
Have you considered the BenQ782ST? It has a very short throw ratio (0.5:1) and is WXGA (1280x800).
I'm using 3 x Acer 1230S short throw projectors at 1024x768 and 0.9:1.
As far as resolution is concerned, my view is that the immersion factor and lack of monitor bezels that a projector offers far outweighs the lower resolution projectors have.
Projectors don't offer the kinds of resolution that monitors do, and even going from XGA to WXGA almost doubles the price! And don't be fooled by a projectors supported resolution. You're going to get the best image at it's native resolution.
I've sat in front of sims that have 800x600 projectors, and I'd rather have that than multiple monitors in front of me. I realise the sharpness issue is a personal thing and opinions differ on the subject, but for me, a sim's visuals are an integral part of it and a large uninterupted image out in front is more important than how sharp the clouds look!
The short throw issue is important. The shorter the better. I haven't got an overhead in place yet and I'm already thinking I may need to move the projectors forward in order that the overhead doesn't cast a shadow, we'll see. That of course will reduce the image size. That's why I think the BenQ 782ST's with their 0.5:1 short throw ratio are good.

Re: I have half a meter, which short throw projector would fit ?
Hi Sean,
Thanks for your answer my friend
I have seen BenQ 782 ST before. Yes it is a nice projector for us, but it is not ultra short throw, meaning that I ger 50 inch at 50 cms, whereas the Hitachi gives more than double at the same distance ( 107 inches !!!! ). Also the Hitachi has the "perfect fit" module which enables quick adjustment of the projected image to rounded surfaces. As it says in the manual ( http://www.hitachidigitalmedia.com/b...rt_leaflet.pdf take a look at the second page ) the image can easily be corrected by making adjustments with the remote control and the on-screen operating menu, something like SOL for one projector only !!!
This means that by stealing few cms more I can get a projected screen of 300 cms wide, together with the "perfect fit" and a curved screen, I will probably get the immersion factor I need with one projector, without spending more for a triple projector setup.
Just my thoughts of course, nothing is given in time being...

That'll explain the price tag then. I'd like to see one of those in action. It looks perfect for sim use!
