    Calibration question

    Hi Alan,

I'm having trouble understanding what you meant in the manual about how to calibrate sensors. In the manual, you state for instance : "Move throttle to full throttle position - On the calibration screen, move the MAX slider until the Sensor Value reads 1000. The maximum position has now been set"

Where exactly do you read the sensor value? On the left of the Sensor Value slider, there is a small window which shows a value, but only when you are moving the throttle and not when you are moving the sliders. When you move the Min Max sliders, the only thing that changes are the Min Max values and the values 0 & 1000 are only there when the sliders are at both ends.

I have been able to calibrate the sensors by trial & error and not by following your instructions and I would really appreciate if you could elaborate a bit on your explanation. I have a feeling I'm doing it the hard way, but I am at a loss to figure out the right way.

    Many thanks,
    Maurice

Thanks Alan. I thought for a while that my comprehension level was seriously deteriorating

Hello Alan - thanks for the update - I'd be stumbling about without your software -

I was trying to calib my flight controls andf ran into the same issue as mauben - have you posted the re write of the calib instructions anywhere? I too am going trial and error here, but I wanted to know if there's a more precice methord -

Is there a way to set dead zones in your software?

    cheers and thanks again ,

    Farrokh.

Haven't got around to updating documentation.
Send me private message if you're still stuck and I will lend a hand.

No dead zones at present time.

    Re: Calibration question

    Farrokh,

    Got your message. Will respond.
    Its Thanksgiving week

You are not really looking so much for a dead zone, but a method to indicate the center or neutral position for a control.

It is too difficult to mechanically align the control connections with exact neutral point on a pot.
I have had this problem with my rudder pedals.
i.e. when my rudder pedals are centered mechanically the aircraft still has a tendency to pull to the right. Is too much hassle to climb under flight deck and tweak pot mounting.

To get to the point: A centering calibration is on the way.

    Maurice, Farrokh, et al,
On the subject of an updated manual:
This will be provided as on-screen help in future releases.

    Regards,
    Alan.

    Re: Calibration question

Thanks alan - look forward to the new v -

I think a centering option in the graphic would help a lot - it's certianly a pain to adjust the pots mechanicaly - maybe a dead zone around the centre would help as well - for instance, while setting the thrust levers to idle, i notice that each time the values are a few numbers off - creating a null area between the idle and reverse positions would prevent the engines going into rev if the value went into the rev area - ditto for the flight controls -

    merry christmas - !

    Re: Calibration question

    Farrokh,

    Merry Christmas.
You're in luck. Am on vacation this week.
    Working on sim (and software).
Added null zone and context sensitive help for calibrating sensors and servos.

If you would like to try out interim version, send me private message and I will send you to try out.

    Ditto, Maurice.

    Regards,
    Alan.
