Thinking of building a 737 cockpit
For about a year or two I have been looking a people's 737 cockpits, and I have been considering building my own. I have a current budget of $1500 at the moment, but that will go up over time. I have free access to Laser cutting machines, and CNC
machines at school, and have general wood work and electronic skills. In about 12 weeks I have Christmas school holidays, which go for 8 weeks, and would like to get a working MIP done in that time.
Can you guys suggest a few things to me:
Cheap MCP (maybe EFIS)
Cheap but good 737 throttle quadrant
Cheap forward overhead, don't mind if it is a kit.
I already have a saitek yoke, saitek throttle quadrant and saitek rudder pedals.
Thanks guys,
Ollie

Re: Thinking of building a 737 cockpit
Hey Rich,
I live on the North Shore. I want the cheapest build which still looks realistic, don't mind if some parts are tricky though.
Thanks,
Ollie

Re: Thinking of building a 737 cockpit
well, generally nothing is cheap in this hobby, and your budget seems a little low to be able to buy many parts.
Simworld have MCP panels and you can buy the mcp electronic kit from Opencockpits.
The MIP you can make yourself. With a MIP and a MCP+EFIS you are well on your way, and still within your budget by far.
TQ is generallt more expencive then your budget allows. Same goes for OH.
Start with your MIP and buy parts when you can.
