    Extreme short throw projector.

I am putting a sim together and have been looking at using a projector instead of lcd screens. The room for the sim is only 10'x10' and came across this extreme short throw projector from NEC that can produce a 100" image from only 2 feet from the wall with supported 1600x1200 resolution from your computer. Basically , the whole front wall will be the flight sim visual. Just wanted to know if anyone had any experience or heard good or bad with this projector. Can't go wrong for $1600.

NEC WT610 Mirrored Reflection Projector :

    Worlds shortest projection throw distance
    Aspheric mirror projector technology
Projects a 80" image from 18 inches away to 100" from 26 inches away
    3500 : 1 high contrast ratio
DLP XGA, with 2000 ANSI lumens brightness
Computer graphics display supported up to UXGA (1600x1200)
HD compatible, DVI with HDCP and HDMI
Advanced AccuBlend: Ensures detailed images when non-native resolution sources are connected to the projector.
    Wireless or wired LAN 811b/g
    3D Reform Keystone Correction
    low noise 32dB
    2000 hour lamp life

My sim room is the same size.I'm still "on the fence" whether to buy a projector or use multiple monitors.

I use three WT-610 projectors, and I am very pleased with them.

You can also turn them on and off remotely with either wireless or wired Lan.

You can Desk or Ceiling mount either front or rear projection.

I find the short throw just ideal.

    Regards
    Don

I noticed there is a guy over on Project Magenta web site using one of these projectors and after a quice exchange of emails he too seems to be very happy with it.

Does any one know if there is any real difference between the NEC WT610 and the NEC WT615 ? can i presume that the 615 is also capable of rear projection ?

Being as i am also in the small room catagory i am becoming more and more tempted to purchase one on these .

    Steve.

The 610 and 615 are the exact same projector , the only difference is the 615comes with a digital pen software to use during presentations.

I have used these as well (in demo) and they are pretty good if you need the short throw - it's pretty ingenious what the projectors actually do - around 5 internal mirrors doing the light folding.

The native resolution though is XGA - 1024x768 which the marketing material doesn't really explain too well - funny that!

How about an 80" view and only 3" from the screen!

    Impressive projectors

Wow, great for any one who's interested in building a sim and has only limited space. Great projectors with impressive specs. I might as well consider both of them; Sanyo and Nec.
