Re: B777 thottle quad build
Hi all,
I've made the flap lever mechanism for the TQ today and I'm really pleased with the smooth lift action. I will be offering this component as available as an individual 'generic' item! AUD$180 complete with both gears and a 10 kohm potentiometer...

Re: B777 thottle quad build
At the end of day six on Ken's TQ, I've fitted the reversers and knobs. It's now ready for buttons and wiring. I will be making the speedrake and trim levers followed by the housing. The plates already have the wiring tracks milled into them with the CNC so it should be easy to wire up.
Every piece has been made on the CNC or lathe so far, I'm trying to build this quad without making anything by hand. That was the plan from the start and so far so good!

OMG Gwyn those handles are salivation material!
I love the TOGA buttons too, how did you work out the mechanism for it?
Can't wait to grab this thing with both hands.
Ken.

Incredible! Don't you ever sleep? I always think to myself if this is what you put out as a "hobbyist", then your efforts on a professional level must be beyond belief.

Re: B777 thottle quad build
Hey Gwyn, I've been meaning to ask you, how do merge the g-code from the gear cutting software with the rest of the code for the lever?
Thanks,
Buddy
Hi Buddy,
I use 'Involute' software to draw gears and save them as a .dxf file. I overlay the .dxf gear file on drawings I have made in VCarvePro5.5 and then delete the unwanted lines. Join all new vectors for creating the toolpath and VCarve generates th GCode.
To draw a gear in Involute only takes a couple of minutes, it is great software available here - http://delphusa.com/index.htm
.dxf files can also be opened with AutoCad and used in the same way but since I bought VCarve I have had no use for AutoCad anymore except for initial design work.
Cheers, Gwyn
