Finally scored most of a 727 MIP!

My MIP project will hopefully start coming together now. The panels will be stripped, re-primed with chromate primer and then repainted. The side panels will either be removed or modified to allow a monitor to sit behind the assembled panel.

I also have to go through all of the electronics and check bulbs, switches, etc, and figure the pin-outs on the Korry indicators and push buttons.

One or the other of the marker light assemblies will be removed and a blank panel will be installed before re-finishing. These were not obviously all from the same aircraft.

I just now opened the box for the first large panel, and the landing gear panel arrived a couple of weeks ago. The others will be following in the mail shortly. It's not as big as I imagined it would be.

Quite a difference from you guys with the glass cockpits, eh?

Do you mind if I ask why you are going to use chromate primer? I would not. I would use regular primer. Chromate primer is highly toxic and is not mandated for a sim! Just my 2 cents.....

Just about everything these days is highly toxic. Sorry, I meant to say I would be using an etching primer that looks like chromate.

I've worked around a lot of liquid sodium chromate used as a coolant for the Minuteman II guidance section ('the can'), highly toxic indeed.

The sanding and painting will be the easy part. The difficult part will be getting all of this stuff out of the panels and reassembling it.
