Bought the LiveATC App :D
So I bought the LiveATC App the other day and it is just awesome .. some people I have talked about it have said it is a waste of 1.99. But for me hoping to become a aircraft controller one day or a pilot. I can listen for hours. Just thought I'd write a little review for you guys
So the app itself is 1.99, some people would say expensive for a app or a good price I would say it is a magnificent price
The worry I had when buying it was that it would be a large app taking up alot of space, considering I have8GB I can't hold alot of apps, along with my music. I was surprised when I checked how much it was taking from my iPod! Only 3.9MB!

When you load the app you are granted with a very nice GUI, which is very easy to navigate through.
It has 5 Tab's at the bottom labeled
Home | USA | Countries | Favourites | More
In the american tab it has around 50channels
Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
District of Columbia
Florida
Georgia
Guam
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
Nevada
New Hampshire
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Ohio
Oklahoma
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Peurto Rico
Rhode Island
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
West Virginia
Wisconsin
The next tab countries has quite alot! As im sure you can imagine
Argentina
Aruba
Australia
Barbados
Belgium
Bermuda
Brazil
Bulgaria
Canada
Chile
Colombia
Costa Rica
Croatia
Curacao
Cyprus
Czech Republic
Denmark
Ecuador
El Salvador

Switzerland
Trinidad and Tobago
Turkey
Ukraine
Uruguay
Venezuela
The next tab called Favourites is very useful as when you select a ATC Channel you can simple press a button and it will save that frequency/channel in your favourites so you can quickly jump to it via favourites instead of searching all the way through the channels to find it again.
The final tab contains 5 sub headings labelled
Nearby - This just uses your current location to find any airports/ATC towers near you pretty cool feature Useless to me considering I live scotland where no airports are on the app.
Top 50- This displays the top 50 listened to right now..
HF- Not really sure but by looking at it is just displays frequency's in the Atlantic..
ARTCC - This has all the Air Route Traffic Control centres on it I believe never really looked at it.
and finally it has a search tab which is self-explanatory.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now lets look at the features of selecting a station. when you choose a city and a airport you will be granted with all the frequencys in that tower for example Delivery and Ground ( Lets take JFK for a example) This has 12!
Once you've chose which one you want to listen to you will be granted with a very nice player which works quite well.
It also has 3 tab's situated beside the play button called
Frequencies - Which shows what frequency this is on.
WX Radar - Which shows the weather at that certain airport with a picture up to date , Such a nice feature.
Diagram - This is the last tab which shows a diagram/plan off the airport. Such like runway numbers. holding places etc.
Below the play button it has a
Elapsed Time label displaying how long you have been listening for.
Channel Status which tells you if the channel is working and available to listen to.
It also has twitter and facebook buttons to share on the social networking sites what channel you are listening to
and below that is has a simple volume bar! .
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I hope you guys find this review useful and solves any questions of the app.
I would give the app a overall rating of 9/10 - One mark off as it does not have any UK ATC Stations still brilliant though.
I would recommened listening to KJFK Tower.. alot of action.
~Thanks Aidan!

Re: Bought the LiveATC App :D
Good review. The lack of UK coverage kills it for me. I never fly in the US, so wouldn't be interested in that. Plenty of Euro countries mentioned, what's the coverage like?
I also agree on the price. 1.99 is nothing. Less than a beer!

I have the Ipad Version and it's great. It also pulls up the Airport diagrams allowing you to better envision what you are hearing. One of my favorite apps.
