The future of CNC might not be a CNC !
This article just caught my attention.
With a 3D printer of this size and price tag, we could "print" a lot of components and gadgets that not even a CNC machine could produce.

Re: The future of CNC might not be a CNC !
Awesome, I saw this 3D printer in an Elektor newsletter today. It is amazing what these 3D printers can produce. But they are a bit pricy still.
CNC won't probably go away unless these printers can print "wood". They are also still slow. We have a big one at work and although they create the most amazing stuff, I am sure a CNC is faster. I must say it is faster to print from a 3D CAD drawing, then to start the same pice on a CNC machine. The CAM process is more complex. I am thinking of printing my Sim's PCL (throttle lever) grip. The plastic alone will cost me about +-EUR100-00.Fritz -> Helicopter Cockpit Builder
