LED & Phidget confusion???
Hi All,
Still trying to work out which way to go with my interface requirements and am now looking at Phidget boards but am slightly confused - does the 0/16/16 Phidget Interface Kit allow LEDs to be controlled? If so why have the LED64 (apart from allowing more to be controlled from 1 board)?
Is there anyway of outputting to 7 segment displays?
All the best

For Phidgets to use LEDs you need the LED64 card. Once you have those if you are using PMSystems, PM will "talk" to the Phidgets card directly. If you are not using PMSystems you will need to use the software Alan Dyer has written to interface your LEDs. Hope this helps.

Cheers Bob - I am using PM Systems (and GC)...
I have worked out I would need:
For PM Systems - H/W OVHD
PC1 Switches 137
PC1 LEDS 99
PC1 Displays 10
PC1 Rotaries 2
For PM MIP & MCP/EFIS
PC2 Switches 93
PC2 LEDS 46
PC2 Displays 22
PC2 Rotaries 8
On this basis then would I need:
9 + 6 = 15 x 0/16/16 Phidget Interface Kits
2 + 1 = 3 x LED64 cards?
Seems a lot??? Nearly $1800???
Hoping I have gone wrong somewhere

Ouch!
When I say 137 switches this wasnt 137 seperate switches it was the number of switch positions I needed to monitor so does that still relate to needing 9 Phidget Interface Kits ?
Cheers for your help

That question is not as easy to answer as it is not cut and dry. Different switches work differently. So you have to figure which switches you can get away with working like a momentary. As long as the "switch" is on it is making contact. Turn the switch off it is open (released). Some will work like this others will not and need a physical off to switch state. So it depends on what aircraft you are building, PM or other software...
